Middle School iSeries Courses

All middle school students must complete at least two of the three courses listed below by the end of 8th grade. (iJourney is required along with either iChallenge or iConnect).

6th Grade iJourney Orientation to Career and Technical Occupation (Required Course)

In this course you will explore and discover your own path, learn to be a digital leader in today's world, and experience career exploration through fun and meaningful creation of your own digital portfolio! This course will help you be better prepared for the transition to high school with an understanding of self and a personalized pathway to the future! This blended course meets the state of Florida's career education requirement for promotion to high school, will include a 4-year plan for high school connected to potential career paths. This course provides an opportunity to earn one digital tool certificate.

7th Grade- iChallange 1 Exploring Information Technology and Gaming Essentials

Are you ready for your future? With so many opportunities in Computer Science, choose iChallenge and learn about this growing field and how it will impact your future, regardless of the career you choose! This coding and game-based course will allow you to earn a digital tool certificate and prepare you to take AP Computer Science Principles in high school. This class uses a combination of online learning, teacher instruction, and project-based learning. You will have the ability to choose projects that excite you, with topics you want to learn more about relating to coding and Computer Science. "Coding is to-day's language of creativity. All our children deserve a chance to become creators instead of consumers of computer science" (Maria Klawe). This course uses content from Code.org which requires parent permission. This course provides an opportunity to earn one or more digital tool certificate.

7th Grade- iChallange 2 Exploring Information Technology and Wed Foundations

By signing up for the second iChallenge course, you become an entrepreneur. You will take the culminating product created in semester 1 and learn how to market the product by designing and creating a website that sells your product. This class uses a combination of online learning, teacher instruction, and project-based learning. Dig deeper into computer science through coding, game-based learning, and web development. Take this next step and see if your product can become a reality. "If you don't build your dream, someone will hire you to help build theirs" (Tony Gaskins). This course uses content from Code.org which requires parent permission. This course provides an opportunity to earn one industry certification.
**Students must complete iChallenge 1 as a prerequisite for iChallenge 2

8th Grade- iConnect Workplace Technology Applications

How much do you know about technology? Dis-cover how "Technology, like art, is a soaring exercise of the human imagination" (Daniel Bell). This semester, you will discover new possibilities and learn about technology applications and communication techniques through this innovative and interactive course. In addition, you will have the opportunity to "show off" your skills by producing a culminating activity that includes your favorite projects from the course and will be added to your ePortfolio! This high school course provides an opportunity to earn two digital tool certificates.
