Smart Glasses- Electronic Device
"Pursuant to section 1006.07(2)(f), Florida Statutes, elementary and middle school students may not use a wireless communications device during the school day" (SCPS Code of Conduct, p. 9).
The Legal Notices section (p. 45) includes smart glasses within the definition of wireless communication devices.
In summary, students may not use smart glasses during the school day.
This is especially important during testing. SCPS testing guidelines state: “Students are NOT permitted to have any electronic devices, including, but not limited to, cell phones, smart glasses, tablets, smartwatches, and cameras at any time during testing or during breaks, even if they are turned off or not in use. Students may not wear smart glasses during statewide testing, even if they are prescription glasses. If a student is found with an electronic device during testing, the test may be invalidated.” (Page 10, SCPS Code of Conduct).
Please remind students that smart glasses are not permitted on campus and must not be used during the school day or during any testing session.
